Plant drinks that are now common may help fight prostate cancer which signifies the amount of knowledge we still need about plants that can solve most health related problems. Diet and exercise are also some of the best forms of prevention for they boost the energy level of the body allowing it to provide stiffer defense against the myriad of diseases out there. These along with many more are some of the findings and conclusions these doctors and health professionals as some of the best cancer prevention tips that all should be informed of as they continue to wage the war against caner in its many forms and shapes.
Cancer Prevention - More effective than treatment (Part 1)

In the previously concluded convention by the American Association for Cancer Research, many conclusions have been reached and the best of them is that the best way to treat cancer is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Recommendations include the consumption of fresh and raw leafy vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower to lower the risk of developing gall bladder cancer according to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. From John Hopkins’s, they have found that a woman who gains weight right after diagnosis of having breast cancer greatly reduces their chances of survival or successful treatment. All agree that the HPV vaccine which has been developed to reduce greatly the risk of developing cervical cancer in women and most are benefiting from getting them with reduced occurrences.
Breast Cancer Reduction Treatments have different results

The current practice of administering prevention surgery for women with breast cancers in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation bracket may have different results that previously expected. The risks are the same yet they may have different effects which may outweigh the risks of having the surgery in the first place. The study factored in the effect of genetics into the equation which was not considered in the past and it shows that a family history of the disease in women may provide varied results for sufferers. The cancer reducing operation coupled with the intake of cancer fighting drugs has produced results but this new study shows that the two types have different risks involved and that two different approaches should be devised for successful prevention and treatment.
Red Meat and Colorectal Cancer

Recent studies are showing that consumption of too much red meat leads makes one more prone to colorectal cancer. Meat as we all know that comes from farms are loaded with growth hormones, antibiotics and vitamins that are used by farmers to increase the health and productivity of their livestock. Researchers are only beginning to investigate the links between these veterinary products and how residual chemicals in the meat of the animals we consume can have adverse effects on the human body. The study shows that consumption of more than 18 ounces of red meat per meal can raise the risks of contracting colorectal cancer in later life. An ounce and a half intake increase raises the risk by as much as 15% which means people should cut back on the red meat they consume and consider more vegetables and leaner cuts of meat.
Need for empathy training in Doctors

There is an urgent need for health professionals who deal with and treat cancer patients to get empathy training. Most patients have complained that doctors and other health professionals who deal with them when they seek advice and treatment are too bland and treat them improperly leading to psychological trauma which adds to the strains of the disease. This prompted the American Cancer Institute to recommend and initiate empathy training for health professionals to make them more human in the way they treat and deal with patients. It has long been an accepted practice for professionals who deal with health care to distance themselves emotionally from the feelings of their patients to prevent personal trauma yet this has many patients complaining about their attitude. Cancer as we all know is a very much dreaded disease that taxes a lot on the body and emotions of a person that adding more frustration due to unsympathetic people dealing with them causes more harm breaking the spirits of sufferers.
Spiral CT Scans for Lung Cancer

The technique is better than standard CT-scans for it gives more detailed information regarding the existence of the disease. Studies have shown that early detection of lung cancer in the initial stages is the best time for treatment and this scan provided the most detailed solution for the best possible chances of treatment. The technique is still being perfected as a diagnostic tool along with the risks involved in their use. Due to the more detailed scans, patients have to stay longer in the scanning booth doubling exposure to the magnetic fields produced by the CT scan machines. All diagnostic imaging technologies involve a form of radiation in various strengths even if they are non-invasive which simply means there is no physical contact with the body. Prolonged exposure raises risks of getting cancers from the scans themselves which would counter their diagnostic benefits.
Menopause, Hormonal Replacement Therapy and Cancer Risks

Women who are about to experience menopause have been baffled by the conflicting recommendations and study results regarding the intake of hormones to alleviate the effects (physiological and psychological) of menopause and its ability to increase the risk of certain types of cancer, namely breast cancer. HRT is deemed necessary to prevent osteoporosis, colon cancer as opposed to the higher incidence and occurrence of Breast cancer. Women who have had hysterectomy take two hormonal supplements to counteract the effect of such medical procedure. Having the ovaries removed also has a good effect which lowers the risk of getting ovarian cancer by as much as 50%. True to rumors, studies both in the US and UK have confirmed the increase of breast cancer. The hormonal treatment of menopause has long been used as a way of allowing women to function normally without the sometimes debilitating effects of the late stage hormonal rampage they have to go through. Studies then showed that is was a case of choosing between two evils that was solidified and better understood by the recent studies. Stem Cells and Cancer Research

These so-called ‘Super Cells’ cells are the focus of some researchers for a better understanding of their inner working s and how they become a certain cell among the millions of other types is exciting to geneticists, doctors, researchers and people who are in need of organ transplants due to disease. Imagine not having to rely on donor organs and avoiding the regimen of expensive anti-rejection drugs (which won’t be necessary for the stem cells will be harvested from the recipient) how it would be easier to prolong life and conquer sickness allowing us to grow perfect organs void of the defect corrected by genetics. This is the ultimate goal of these studies, to alleviate suffering and death for those millions of people who have cancer in its many forms and shapes.
